Our approach to application development keeps clients in the loop and in control
Our client-centred development methodology ensures that our clients know exactly what to expect at each point along the development lifecycle.
We view a successful engagement as one that: has executive-level support; has an identified and achievable scope; actively solicits input from end-users and stakeholders; involves ongoing, dedicated project management; and has well defined goals and objectives whose achievement can be measured. The success of our projects is fueled by our proprietary, flexible, client-centered development methodology, a customer-focused framework that encompasses all stages of application development. Our approach ensures a repeatable process that helps deliver quality, minimize risk, and manage project stakeholder expectations. In addition, zed is experienced in following and adhering to all industry standard methodologies (ie. RUP, Agile, etc).
As described briefly below, it is comprised of procedures that ensure the following project elements are effectively addressed: Project Management; Risk Identification and Management; Quality Management and Human Resource Management.
Project Management
For application development projects, we typically assign an internal Project Manager, a single key contact with whom clients can coordinate project development and integration activities, and discuss all project-related issues and concerns. Our Project Managers are responsible for ensuring that timelines, deliverables, resources and costs are effectively managed, and for keeping our clients engaged and involved in the process.
Risk Identification and Management
zed’s proprietary risk identification and management process is an integral component of our approach. Our assigned Project Manager works with each client to initially identify project risks, assess their potential impact and likelihood of occurrence, and then develop appropriate and effective mitigation strategies. Our approach also involves ongoing monitoring of risks, and continued vigilance for new risks as the project progresses.
Quality Management
Our methodology defines how and to whom the results of quality audits and reviews are to be communicated. Work product reviews (i.e., self-checks, project leader and peer reviews, and group reviews) provide the primary basis of quality assurance checks. Our quality management plan also includes development of a test plan and test cases, unit testing, code review, and requirements verification to identify bugs and ensure that all functional and technical requirements have been fully satisfied.
Human Resource Management
To ensure both resource availability as well as a high degree of consistency and stability within a given project team, we are continually making efforts through corporate structure or process to mitigate the risks associated with staff turnover, including: managing a progressive, proactive resource retention strategy; engaging in appropriate resource planning to optimize availability; and completing regular resource performance and quality evaluations that recognize the respective contribution of project team members to client satisfaction, project success and achievement of overall company business objectives.
